Jupiter 32 Cuddy – Building the Perfect Boat

Jupiter 32 Cuddy

While the Intrinsic Yacht & Ship team was in Florida for the Ft Lauderdale Boat Show in October, we met Tim at the Jupiter Marine display. Tim was recently retired and looking for a boat that was more substantial for his offshore fishing jaunts to wrecks, and he also wanted a boat that would be comfortable and enjoyable for trips with his family. He had been considering the Jupiter 32 Cuddy, and it didn’t take long to determine that this boat would fit his wish list perfectly. His interest in the Jupiter 32 Cuddy with two-fold – the 32 Cuddy provided him with more storage to store his fishing equipment while also providing a place for his family to escape the sun on hot, sunny, Virginia days.

We continued talking with Tim after returning home from the boat show to determine whether there were any boats on the market that fit his needs or if he should begin the process of building a 32 Cuddy that was perfectly suited for him and his family. Tim wanted a no-frills boat with some custom additions, so the ultimate decision was to build a boat customized to his specifications. Construction of his new boat was started and we began working with Tim and Jupiter Marine to come up with his list of custom specifications. Tim wanted the console head to double up as a shower compartment with the installation of a shower sump below the console head deck. He wanted bow cleats installed that were larger and more bulky than the standard so he could drop his wreck anchor for fishing. After those items were decided on, we turned our attention to creating a state of the art custom electronics package for fishing and navigation.

When we sat down to specify the electronics for the boat, he chose Garmin. Tim chose two Garmin 7212 series flat panel touch displays, with GRID, the GSD26 Black Box sounder in addition to the appropriate thru hull transducers to help him maximize the pinpointing accuracy of fish targets below the boat. In addition to the fishing electronics, he also chose the 4’ Open Array Radar and a Standard Horizon VHF with AIS Integration. It’s a pretty complete package to say the least.

Construction on the boat is almost complete and the boat is on its way here from Jupiter Marine in Palmetto Florida. We will be installing the electronics package upon its arrival. The owner is also having custom canvas installed so that he can add more time his fishing adventures as it gets colder.
